Saint-Germain-des-Prés Foodie Walking Tour We start this list of the best secret food tours in Paris with one of only few neighbourhoods in Paris that could be as graciously demonstrating centuries of culinary tradition as the Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The journey at this guided food tour begins in some of the neighborhood’s most nostalgic streets, where cafes embrace painters and writers, and pastries are being made under the guidance of chefs with Michelin aspirations. With the seasons, the choice changes, and this makes the tasting experience nothing short of charmingly natural: buttery viennoiseries slowly roasting in the local bakeries, local cheeses, and delicious chocolates and sweets that are surely worth taking a few extra calories. The tour is as Parisian as it may be--slow-paced, chatty, reeking with historical anecdotes, and you walk away with a full belly and a pocket full of information about one of the most popular culinary neighborhoods in Paris. Hôtel De Buci puts you right in the heart of Saint-Germain’s historic café culture. No Diet Club: Best Spicy Food in Paris This tour redefines the definition of what Parisian food is supposed to be. The food is bountiful, creative, and delightfully entertaining; there are no small bites, no rigidity, just a bunch of dishes that will make you want even more even after the tour is done. It’s this unanticipated excitement of finding culinary masterpieces between old streets and old fronts, some of the hottest street food delicacies, and authentic connections. Instead of going through recipes, the chef leans towards technique, accuracy, and the craftsmanship that constitutes the typical, authentic French pastry. This conclusion redefines the day, turning informal tasting into something that seems to be interactive and all-encompassing. On the way, you have an idea of how it feels to be living in this place, to go shopping in these specialty shops, to know which bakery prepares the flakiest croissant in the morning. It is immersive, luxurious, but at the same time, not pompous and highly gratifying. Hôtel Jules & Jim is a stylish boutique stay in the middle of Le Marais’ food lanes. Paris Guided Walking Food Tour The simplicity of this guided food tour is what makes it so memorable. Hôtel Madison gives you elegant access to the Left Bank’s best bakeries and brasseries. Latin Quarter Food Tour and Notre-Dame With 8 Tastings The Latin Quarter and Notre-Dame neighborhood are showcasing a mix of centuries-old architecture and vibrant cuisine. Eight tastings during this tour will be a narrative of tradition and daily delight breads with crispy crusts, chocolates with perfect craftsmanship, and some of the tastiest cheese varieties in Paris. Along the way, the guide tells you about cultural aspects that put the experience into perspective: the reason this bakery is so important to the neighborhood, how this local gastronomic culture has evolved with time, and why some types of chocolate are better than others. It does not seem like fake food tourism, but like entering a world of tastes that a local is used to. It is Paris in its purest and most refined way. Hôtel Monge is a refined, perfectly located option in the heart of the Latin Quarter. Culinary Tour Le Marais: 11 Tastings 2 Wines A gastronomic experience in Le Marais that is liberal in all respects - liberal in portions, liberal in narrative, liberal in its locality. The eleven tastings are a complete survey of the local gastronomy, including the masterfully made pâtisserie, as well as the perfectly aged cheeses and charcuterie. Wine pairings are included in most tastings, helping one focus on the interpretation of flavor. Another beautiful thing about this tour is the timing; it’s nice and slow, and there is no real hurry to rush from one place to another. Rather, every tasting can take its time, and so does context: why this cheesemaker is interesting, why this type of chocolate is so special, how Paris still maintains its traditions, and at the same time, invents. It is elegant, discerning, and sublimely posh. Hôtel Caron de Beaumarchais blends old-world charm with unbeatable Marais location. This is the secret Paris that this tour will reveal. During the evening, you cross districts that are both stylish and dark. There are drinks and cocktails dens beyond the unmarked doors: each has its own atmosphere: dark jazz, modern minimalism, low-key conversation, and creative cocktails. And it is on this walk that Paris is also tasted in its local delights. Dapper cellars smelling soft cheeses. Wines that reverberate in the country. The pastry aglow in sunny windows. The guide is a delicate mix of neighborhood history as you walk through all the shops, one shop after another, each of which is an exploration between taste and tradition. Hôtel Dupond-Smith offers a luxurious hideaway in Le Marais’ quiet backstreets. 3-Course Lunch in Madame Brasserie of the Eiffel Tower I know this is a tour of the best secret food tours in Paris, and the Eiffel Tower is one of the city’s most popular landmarks/tourist traps, but we just have to include this experience because most people don’t know that one can get a dinner for 2 at the Eiffel Tower for just 70 euros. This experience begins with the soft sound of the tower flying overhead and goes on to become a three-course ride that is accompanied by the Parisian flair. Imagine sophisticated appetizers that torment your palate, entrées that are comforting and sophisticated, and a dessert that puts a full stop to the meal and a promise in your ear. The room is sophisticated yet easy-going - not a display, but a moment of serene majesty. Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel is the most convenient stay for tower-side dining. Aligre Market Walking Food Tour The Aligre Market lacks the sophistication of the guidebooks - and this is what makes the tour so attractive. It takes you into a neighborhood where residents scramble over fresh produce, cheeses that are maturing in warm lights, and the aroma of fresh bread is being blended with the voices of the street. You spend more than three hours wandering stall to stall, enjoying what Parisians can afford to eat daily, crisp baguettes with crust that has been trimmed just right, fresh produce that has been grown with integrity, and cheeses that have been aged the way they are supposed to be. The tour goes through the commotion, shows vendors that are proud of their work, and personalizes the clamor. When you get to the end, you bring along with you not just food but a sense of place, a sense of texture, a sense of everyday life in Paris. Hôtel Mercure Paris Bastille Saint-Antoine is steps from Marché d’Aligre’s lively stalls. Every kebab shop is an opportunity to sample the heterogeneity of the city: the meats are slow roasted, the sauces are smoky or tangy, and the breads are fresh and warm. The guide is a native born speaker of the local language- what place strikes the notes perfectly, what wraps to provide consistency of heat and texture. 25hours Hotel Terminus Nord puts you in the multicultural, street-food-rich 10th arrondissement. Latin Quarter Pastries Food Tour Last but not least, we conclude this list of the best secret food tours of Paris with this tour of the Latin Quarter. There are six tastings that take you out of buttery croissants, which disperse as soon as you press a button, or chocolates that are made into shapes, or desserts that vanish before you can realize it. You have not only eaten by the time you are finished, but you have strolled through a half-forgotten Paris that still smells of home.
