Serbia is home to 6 million people. Around 83.3% of the total population consists of ethnic Serbs. The main minority ethnic groups are Hungarians, Roma and others.

Geography

With a territory of 88,361 square kilometres, Serbia is the 22nd largest country Europe. Serbia is a land lock country and is located at the crossroads between Central and the Southern Europe. Serbia shares its border with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Albania.

Climate

Serbia’s climate is temperate and continental with four different seasons. The winters (December-March) regularly have temperatures between 7 to -3°C while the summers are relatively hot with the average temperature ranging between 15 and 30 °C.

Serbia is an upper-middle income country with a mixed economy. The average monthly income is RSD 59,722 per month (500 Euros), making Serbia a relatively budget-friendly country for European standards. Backpackers can survive with around $30 per day, while mid-range travelers spend between $50 and $70 per day on average.
