Croatia is home to 4 million people. Between 85% and 90% of the total population consists of ethnic Croats. The main minority ethnic group are the Serbs.

Official Language

The official language is Croatian, a language that belongs to the South Slavic group but unlike Serbs, they use the Latin script.

Currency

Croatia’s official currency is the Croatian kuna(currency code HRK). One Euro/USD is equal to roughly 7-8 HRK. 

Geography

With a territory of 56,594 square kilometers, Croatia is located on the coast of the Adriatic sea, between Central and South East Europe, it share its border with Serbia (east), Bosnia&Herzegovina & Montenegro (South east) and Slovenia( North west) and its the 26th largest Country in Europe.

Climate

Croatia’s climate is warm and rainy continental with four different seasons. The winters (December- March) regularly have temperatures below 0 while the summers are relatively hot with the average temperature ranging between 22 and 30 °C.

Economy & Budget

Croatia has a developing high-income service based economy. The average monthly income is HRK 7-8000 per month (930 Euros), making Croatia an expensive country to travel compare to its neighboring countries. Backpackers can survive with around $60 per day, while mid-range travelers spend between $80 and $100 per day on average.
