We have been travelling a lot and have been taking travel insurance. Through your post learnt something new.. It reclaims flight cancellation fees. That is a good to know information though we would not really want the flight to get cancelled just like.. any other mishaps! Totally agree with you that it is a good practice to have a stress free travel!

It sure is. However, that depends on the insurance company and package. Not all of them provide this service so make sure to double check what all is included before purchasing a package 🙂

I never used to get travel insurance when I was younger, it wasn’t until I got a little older that I realised it would be better to have it! Fortunately for us, we have travel insurance included in our credit card package so we don’t have to worry about the extra costs of purchasing it 🙂

We make sure we get travel insurance just for the medical cover alone. It would be a nightmare to get sick or injured and find ourselves lumped with an astronomical medical bill.

We found that the other benefits have been invaluable too. Last year we were robbed in Buenos Aires and lost almost all of our valuables, but thankfully we had insurance and were covered. After that, we never travel without insurance.

Indeed, Alex. The future is unpredictable and you never know what it will bring. It’s even worse if it brings something unwanted when you’re thousands of miles away from home. I’m sorry to hear about your Buenos Aires incident. I had a similar experience in Kashmir 🙂

This is a great article on travel insurance. I completely agree with you on all the points you’ve mentioned. We never travel without travel insurance and we have even used it a couple of times on our trips when unexpected things happened. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

We did get it for a long trip in Thailand and thankfully as our youngest broke his heel. Great outline of why to have it.

Thanks for the comment guys. I wasn’t using travel insurance in the beginning either but as time went by I started finding it rather useful even though I never had any serious accidents on the road.

I once had terrible accident in the Philippines and didn’t have insurance. I never travelled without it afterwards. But your articles says it covers more than just medical and that is good to know! Thank you for sharing.

I’m sorry to hear about that Rawan and yes it’s true, there are insurance providers that can protect you from non-medical circumstances too.

I totally agree with all the pros! I would never go anywhere without my travel insurance! I think people often sees themselves as “nothing can happen to me” and that’s sooo wrong.

Totally agree with your points. One must have travel insurance to save yourself from some unwanted debt. Would love to know more how and which travel insurance is best to opt?

If you don’t have the money for treatment or you can’t afford the long bills of the hospitals and you are fond of visiting outside the country then you must go for travel insurance policy as it covers all the medical policies in it and you have to pay for hospital bills nothing.
