Population
Laos is home to 7 million people. Around 50% of the total population consists of ethnic Lao. The main minority ethnic groups are Khmu, Hmong, Phouthai, Tai, Makong, Katang and others.
Official Language
The official language is Lao, Hmong, Khmu and French.
Currency
Lao’s official currency is the Lao kip (currency code LAK). One Euro/US dollars is equal to roughly 9,675.87 -8,955.00 LAK.
Geography
With a territory of 237,955 square kilometers, Lao is the 23rd largest country in Asia. Laos is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia, its thickly forested landscape consists mostly of rugged mountains. Laos shares borders with Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the south, Thailand to the west, and Myanmar and China to the north.
Climate
Laos has a mostly tropical savanna climate with 2 different seasons. Dry Season (October to April) and Wet Season( May to September).
Economy & Budget
Laos is a rapidly growing lower-middle income developing economy and depends heavily on investment and trade with its neighbors, Thailand, Vietnam, and, especially in the north, China. Laos is a relatively budget-friendly country for traveling. Backpackers can survive with around $10-15 per day, while mid-range travelers spend between $30 and $50 per day on average.

Vientiane is the capital city of Laos with a total population of 562,244.
