Hotel Lungarno Review- A Great 5-Star Hotel In Florence

If you’re planning to explore Florence and are seeking a 5-star hotel in Florence on a decent budget then you should definitely consider Hotel Lungarno. Located right next to Ponte Vecchio, the hotel offers the most amazing river views in town and is very near to most of the main tourist attractions in Florence. It’s an endearing hotel with some sublime interstructures, spacey and comfortable rooms, and friendly staff that’s always open to suggestions. If you found this review looking for more information about the hotel, keep reading. Hopefully, this Hotel Lungarno review will provide you with some insight and helpful tips if you’re considering staying here during your next trip to Florence.

About The Hotel

We’re starting this Hotel Lungarno review with some general information about the hotel. Hotel Lungarno was first built in 1967 but it was recently renewed and reopened in 2017. Today, Lungarno is also the flagship hotel of Leonardo Ferragamo’s Lungarno Collection. The property has 65 luxurious rooms and suites, many of which have spacious terraces overlooking the area surrounding the iconic Ponte Vecchio Bridge. This brings us to the next point.

Hotel Lungarno Review- Location

couple romantic

Hotel Lungarno is located only a few steps from the Arno River. You can literally step into the river from the entrance! The hotel is also within walking distance of most tourist attractions, making it a great starting point for exploring the city. Ponte Vecchio is 100 meters away; the famous Uffizi Gallery is 200 meters away; Via Maggio and Pitti Palace are 300 meters away, and Piazza della Signoria and the Church of Orsanmichele are only 400 meters away. However, despite being located in one of the central points of Florence, the hotel gives a peaceful vibe, making you feel like you’re away from the hectic life of the city.

In the area, you’ll also find some amazing restaurants and bars. However, you probably won’t want to try another one after tasting the food in the Micheline-starred restaurant Borgo San Jacopo that’s a part of the hotel’s property. The restaurant serves traditional, yet creative food and it has been featured in most major restaurant guides.

Rooms & Suites

Lungarno Hotel roons

This hotel Lungarno review couldn’t be complete without an overview of the hotel’s facilities. 40 of the 65 rooms and suites in the hotel come with a river view and once you experience this, you’ll understand why they cost a few euros more. Each room comes with its own unique art and interior. The artwork in most of the rooms is rather impressive; the hotel’s collection features more than 450 paintings spread across the suites. Some suites are even dedicated to the work of a unique artist.

All rooms have espresso machines, mini iPads, Bose sound links, and kettles (among other amenities). Most rooms have white-striped carpeting and navy curtains, giving the interior a fresh and welcoming vibe. The Bathrooms are decorated with white marble/gleaming grey or honey-hued travertine and are supplied with in-house toiletries. One of the suites even has a built-in jacuzzi tub. Overall, there are 14 types of rooms and we’ll try to briefly cover all of them.

Arno Executive Floor

This room provides you with the intimate luxury of a private home and comes with a balcony that has a river view.

Suite Cocteau River View

You can find the Suite Cocteau River View suite on the second floor. This one comes with large windows (and) a balcony that gives an amazing view of the Arno River.

Rooftop Terrace Suite River View

Hotel Lungarno review

If you want a suite with the best view in Florence, it doesn’t get much better than this! The rooftop terrace comes with a 360-degree panoramic view of the center of Florence.

Designer Suite River Floor

Located on the fourth floor, this suite comprises three bedrooms, a living room, four bathrooms, and a fully equipped modern kitchen. This suite also gives you the unique opportunity to have one of the chefs from the Michelin-starred restaurant Borgo San Jacopo for an intimate in-suite dining experience.

Suite Picasso River View

The Picasso suite is one of the most elegant suites in the lower floors. It’s decorated with several Picasso paintings, antique furniture that adds to the room’s special charms, and a charming spacious balcony overlooking the river.

Suite Bueno River View

Similarly to the Picasso suite, the Suite Bueno comes with a beautiful view and a double bedroom. Upon request, the suite can be enlarged with an additional room.

Studio Suite Torre

Torre Studio Suite is a bit different than all other suites but it’s my personal favorite. If you’re a history buff and want to stay in a vintage room, this is a perfect choice.

Executive Double Terrace River View

Located on the fifth and sixth floors, the executive double terrace also offers an amazing view that’s on par with the view from the rooftop. From this room’s balcony, you can see the tower of Palazzo Vecchio Brunelleschi’s dome and Giotto’s bell tower.

Studio Suite River View

The studio suite consists of some fascinating antique furniture and paintings of famous Italian artists. It’s one of the suites with a perfect view of the Ponte Vecchio.

Panorama Executive Floor

Panorama Executive Floor

is located on the fifth floor and covers an area of 130 square meters. It comprises of four suites that can accommodate up to 12 people. If you’re looking for complete privacy while being in the heart of Florence, this is a perfect choice.

Family Room

As the name suggests, these rooms can accommodate traveling families and can be enlarged upon request. The room has double (or twin beds), a seating area, and a bathroom made of the finest Italian white marble.

Deluxe Double River View

These rooms are the closest to the Ponte Vecchio but not all of them come with a terrace view. The ones that do, however, are worth every penny.

Prestige Double River View and Relaxing Double

If you’re traveling with your partner, I recommend the Prestige Double Suite or the Relaxing Double Suite. They both have a cozy interior, a comfortable seating area, and a beautiful, romantic view of the center of Florence.

Interior & Design

Lungarno Hotel

As you enter the hotel, you’ll inevitably notice a few Cocteau paintings; part of the hotel’s fascinating private gallery. The central lobby is stylishly decorated with more interesting paintings, sculptures, and a cozy fireplace overlooking the river. If you’re an art lover, you’ll love this place, as all rooms in the hotel are decorated with paintings from the hotel’s own private collection that includes the work of many international artists, including Picasso, Guidi, Fusi, Bueno, Cocteau, and many others.

The interior is filled with vibrant blue colors that will make you feel like you’re on a ship that’s gently cruising down the Arno River. This was, apparently, the intention of Michele Bonan, the famous designer responsible for the fascinating interior.

Hotel Lungarno Review Of Service & Facilities

Hotel Lungarno

If you need a ride from the airport, the hotel provides a prepaid airport shuttle on request for a nominal fee. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, the hotel has a private parking lot, and it’s easily accessible for people with disabilities. The hotel is also family-friendly; there are several inter-connecting rooms and large apartments that can easily accommodate more people. Additionally, the hotel can also organize group activities for you, including child-friendly museum & shopping tours, and visits to the football stadium.

If you are looking for a special dinner you can book a table at Borgo San Jacopo, a Michelin Star restaurant looking out at River Arno, that offers unmissable and special dishes from the best
Italian cooking tradition. At Hotel Lungarno, it’s also available a style lounge bar, The Picteau Lounge Bar with its classy drinks it’s the perfect location for your after-dinner in Florence.

The service in the hotel is professional as one might expect from the Ferragamo brand. Lungarno Hotel doesn’t have a spa or a gym but you can arrange an in-room massage treatment. Finally, if you want to cycle around the city, you can ask to borrow one of the hotel’s bicycles at the reception.

Hotel Lungarno looks so awesome! I love that you can view the river from the hotel and the location of this place is great too. It's so close to other attractions so it would save lots of time walking around. I visited Florence last year but stayed at a boutique hostel which was a bit far from tourist attractions. Will save money to stay here next time I visit Florence!

I haven't had a chance to stay there yet, but a couple of friends did and told me that it's really beautiful! The location overlooking the Arno river is enchanting and the rooms look really cozy - plus I love the idea of having espresso machines and mini iPads available!
