Grandmas Hotel Bali Review- Everything You Need To Know

Grandmas Hotel in Seminyak is ideal for visitors in Bali who are looking for an urban edge to their beach holiday. The clean, contemporary design and décor give the hotel a boutique feel, and my first impression was that staying here should cost more than it actually does. In this Grandmas Hotel Bali review, I’ll share an insight of my stay there and show you all you need to know before choosing this hotel for your upcoming holiday in Bali.

The affordable room rates along with the convenient location and amazingly helpful staff are Grandmas’ strongest suits. Palms and tropical greenery surround the restaurant and the lobby, and the hotel front side is covered with beautiful green vines.

The atmosphere is quite relaxed, the lobby and the walkways are decorated with natural wood details and glazed concrete. During the day most of the guests are centered around the pool that gets quite crowded during cocktail hour. Next to the pool is the restaurant that serves some delicious food and cheap cocktails during cocktail hour.

The hotel is an ideal starting point for exploring Seminyak on foot and it’s not far from most exciting attractions in Bali. This detailed Grandmas Hotel Bali review should help you decide whether this hotel is a good choice for your trip to Bali.

Locationseminyak beach

We’ll start this Grandmas Hotel Bali Review with its location. The hotel is located in downtown Seminyak, only five minutes away from Seminyak beach and near many popular restaurants, bars, and shops. Seminyak beach is more laid-back than Kuta Beach but they are still a bit too crowded as two of the most popular beaches in Bali. Kuta Beach is also not too far from the hotel (around 20 minutes of driving).

Grandmas Hotel in Seminyak seems like a popular choice for young partying people who come to Bali to enjoy both the beach and the nightlife. Down the road from the hotel, you will find a lot of cabs if you need to go anywhere and there are also several rent-a-bike stores within walking distance. Grandmas Hotel is around a 10-minute drive from the Petitenget area, 15-minute away from Kuta, 30 minutes away from the airport, and around 45 minutes away from the forests of Ubud.

Style & Character

The lime green, plant decorations, and accent color throughout the hotel add a sense of calm to the place which is really important for a hotel. The decoration is extraordinarily used to divide the communal areas from the rooms and this whole clever layout of the property makes it impossible to guess that there are 113 rooms in this hotel. The hotel also has its own traditional restaurant with great food, a bar with a billiard table, a small pool, and a spacious, modern spa.

Service & Facilities

The circular open-air pool is open every day until 10:30 PM. The pool isn’t really big and there isn’t much space around it so you can’t expect much privacy. However, the pool is very well maintained, clean, and looks very inviting.

The hotel’s spa offers different, affordable treatments, including haircuts, manicures, pedicures, and various massages. The spa is open from 9 AM to 10 PM. The staff is really friendly and helpful and the check-in process is fairly fast.

All the guests have complimentary breakfast in the restaurant that serves both, traditional and continental food. Lunch and dinner aren’t included in the price but the prices in the restaurant are more than affordable.

The hotel is accessible to people with disabilities.

Rooms

Grandmas hotel Bali review

The rooms at Grandmas aren’t the biggest ones in the world but nevertheless, you’ll be in for a comfortable stay. All rooms have a luggage rack, desk-space, wall-mounted TV, coffee and tea, a small fridge, and really comfortable beds. The bathrooms are equipped with shower gel and shampoo, as well as basic toiletries. The rooms have air conditioning and are very well maintained.

The rooms have horizontal windows that let a sufficient amount of natural light in the room. There are green vines peaking from the window and that makes the rooms even more relaxing. The walls and the bedsheets are white, adding to the relaxing atmosphere in the room. Also, the rooms are styled with green accents on the doors, chairs, and bed runners. All rooms come with complimentary Wi-Fi which is pretty fast.

Two different room categories from which you can choose are the single double bed or two twins. If you can choose, go for the upper-floor rooms because they tend to be a bit quieter because they’re farther away from the neighboring bars.

Value For Money

 grandmas hotel bali review

The price varies depending on the season and the prices for a double room vary between IDR350,000 ($28) in the low season to IDR 500,000 ($38) in the high season (including breakfast). When you compared these prices with the hotel’s appearance and the package that you’re getting, I could say that this is one of the best value-for-money hotels in Bali.

Grandmas Airport

grandmas hotel review

Grandmas Hotel also has a property near the airport. You can get their last day airport package for IDR 450,000 ($35 USD) and spend your last day relaxing in this beautiful hotel. The rooms are a bit bigger here, they have a fancy restaurant and a big, more private pool. The last day package also includes an amazing 3-hour spa treatment to round-up your Bali vacation. A complimentary drop-off to the airport is included in the package.

Alternatively, you can also choose to spend the night here on a long layover and take a quick trip to Ubud or Seminyak.

Grandma's Hotel looks like a great option to stay in Bali! I love all the greenery and the modern decor. We never mind small rooms - as long as they are clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing, and this seems to check all the boxes. I love the quaint and beautiful pool area. I think it would look very inviting after a long flight!

Reading the name "Grandmas Hotel" I worried that it would be a run down place but was nicely surprised at how modern and well maintained this hotel in Seminyak is. The rates are amazing, because Bali hotels can be so expensive. It is well placed, especially for young people, who want to be near the action and the beach too. Good Wi-Fi is a need at this time, so good to know that it is included, as well as the downstairs breakfast. I never really worry about small rooms - if I'm on vacation I want to be out and exploring so location is more important.

I know, right? The name doesn't really describe the hotel :) The breakfasts were absolutely amazing!

Wow, you have great choices with value for money to stay in Bali. I would prefer Grandmas Hotel Seminyak as it has lovely rooms and also not very far from Kuta Beach. The lime green color and plant decorations match the destination theme and it is very inviting. Also, the horizontal window over the bed seems unique and would be great to peep out when waking up. Also it is good that the complimentary Wi-Fi is pretty fast as sometimes the speed of free Wi-Fi sucks.

You get quite a choice when it comes to hotels in Bali but grandmas surely ticks my boxes. Not part of a huge chain. Personalised service and small and comfy. Live the art in the room wall which I would live to stay in. They hotel looks modern and clean above all. Thanks fir sharing this gem and one I will surely book if I was around.

Love that first photo showing the pool and the overhanging greenery and windows. We like contemporary style, so I think we would appreciate the Grandmas Hotel in Seminyak. I particularly like that instead of being right on the beach, it's well located for restaurants and shops. The rooms look really lovely and bright and fun in their decor.
